Safe Needle Disposal
Many people use needles, syringes and lancets at home for administration of medications to treat conditions such as allergies, diabetes and blood-clotting disorders. Used needles are dangerous because they have the potential to carry infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS, hepatitis, tetanus or syphilis. Used needles can be dropped off at the following locations Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.
- Margaret Mary Health Main Campus
- Margaret Mary Health Center of Brookville
- Margaret Mary Health Center of Osgood
- Margaret Mary Physician Partners of Milan
- Ripley County Health Department
All needles must be in an approved sharps container in order to be accepted. Approved containers are available at all of the above locations, free of charge. Be sure of the following before dropping off used needles:
- Fill the sharps container to the ‘Full’ line on the container. Do not over fill.
- Seal the sharps container before dropping off.
