This summer, MMH is excited to welcome Dr. Doug Engle to the medical team at Margaret Mary’s Health Center in Brookville. Specializing in Internal Medicine, Dr. Engle provides traditional primary care services to adults and is specially trained to diagnose and treat complex conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. He also helps patients manage multiple chronic conditions at the same time.
Dr. Engle earned his medical degree from the IU School of Medicine and completed his residency in internal medicine at Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. Most recently, he separated from the United States Army with the rank of Major. Over the past four years, he served as a battalion doctor and worked at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital.
Having grown up in a rural area in northern Indiana, Dr. Engle has always been drawn to raising his family in a smaller community. “My wife, Emily, and I have been married for almost six years, and we have a beautiful 3-year-old daughter named Cassidy,” said Dr. Engle. “My wife is from this area, and I always knew this is where my family would end up. I look forward to providing care to the people who make this area great.”
Dr. Engle enjoys working in the medical field because it allows him to build long-term relationships with the community. “I specifically love primary care as I feel like I have the opportunity to make the most difference in my patients’ longevity and quality of life,” he said. “I am very dedicated to my patients and always put them first. I’m also a great listener and want my patients to have a voice in their healthcare.”
Although Dr. Engle loves outdoor activities such as hiking, hunting, fishing, and gardening, his favorite pastime is spending time with family and friends.
